From spectacular fireworks to festive parades, find out how to make the most of Independence Day in Houston. We're outlining the best places to celebrate on the 4th of July!
HOUSTON
Shell Freedom Over Texas
This is one of the most popular inner-loop activities on July 4th, and because of this, it's also one of the busiest. If you just want to see the fireworks, you can normally see them from the surrounding areas around the park.
Tens of thousands of people are expected to attend the City of Houston's big Shell Freedom Over Texas celebration in Eleanor Tinsley Park along Allen Parkway. There are six hours of live music, lawn games, and a children's entertainment zone with games and rides.
Tickets are $10 (children 5 and under are free). You can park at the Hobby Center parking garage at 800 Bagby or some of the Theater District Parking Garages.
Even if you aren't going to the event, keep in mind traffic will be heavier and some streets will be closed.
